About 30 seconds after turning on the ignition, the SECURITY light appears on the dashboard. The factory skid plate package includes one for the steering, one for the transfer case and one for the fuel tank. The steering skid plate is well-designed, fits well and is easy enough to install / remove. The steering skid plate is in front of the splash shield, as-shown in this image.
